Door and gate access control

Keyless entry for offices, shops, apartments, HOAs and small buildings, built on Ubiquiti UniFi Access. You own the hardware and pay no monthly software license fees.

  • Unlock with a phone or an NFC card. Fewer keys to copy, track and collect.
  • Set a schedule for each door. Front door open during office hours, locked after.
  • Unlock remotely for a guest, a vendor or a locked-out resident.
  • Add or remove a person's access at any time, for example when someone moves out.

Network and Wi-Fi design

Replace the internet provider's router or a mesh kit with a planned Ubiquiti UniFi network: the gateway, the switches and the Wi-Fi access points. Coverage is planned around how the space is actually used. Staff and guests can be kept on separate networks.

Low-voltage cabling

CAT6 cable runs, terminations and Wi-Fi access point installs, ready for the equipment that depends on it. Messy cabling can be cleaned up as part of the job.

We don't disappear after install day. Changes, updates, new users, new doors and troubleshooting.

Mini-ISP: one internet connection, a private network for every unit

In many rental buildings, each tenant sets up and pays for their own internet. The owner gets nothing from it. The building doesn't improve.

How it works

  • One business-grade internet connection comes into the building.
  • We split it into a separate, private network for each unit.
  • Each unit's network is isolated by the equipment, not by a shared password.
  • Tenants join their own unit's network to get online, through a hotel-style sign-in page with your building's name.
  • A tenant's access is turned off at move-out.

Who owns what

  • You own the equipment.
  • You hold the account with your internet provider.
  • You include internet in the rent.
  • We design the network, choose the equipment, configure it and install it. We don't sell internet service ourselves.

What has to be true first

  • Your internet provider's terms must allow one connection to serve several rental units. We'll look at those terms with you. Your own attorney should confirm it in writing. We don't give legal advice.
  • If your leases make tenants responsible for internet, the leases will likely need an update before anything changes.

What a typical business project looks like

Every business is different. This is the usual shape of it.

  1. Free site visit

    John walks the space: the provider's equipment, the network closet, the cameras and doors, and where the cable runs today.

  2. Written plan and quote

    The plan, the equipment list and the price, in writing. Nothing is installed until you approve it.

  3. Equipment ordered for your job

    Once you approve the quote, your equipment is ordered for your job. Nothing comes off a shelf, so you see exactly what you pay for.

  4. Install and handoff

    What needs replacing is replaced, and the new system goes in. It's tested, labeled and documented, John walks you through it, and support is there afterward.

  • Do you work on a setup someone else installed?

    Yes. A provider's router, a mesh kit, older cameras or messy cabling is a common starting point. John looks at what's there first and tells you what to keep and what to replace.

  • Where does the equipment come from, and who owns it?

    J. Shea Technologies doesn't keep equipment in stock to sell. The equipment for your job is listed in your quote and ordered after you approve it, so you see exactly what you pay for. The finished system is yours to own and manage. Access control customers pay no monthly software license fees.

  • Can you work with our old keypad or fob system?

    We can retrofit certain outdated access control, build new for newer developments, or replace the old system altogether with a new, unified one. We'll look at what you have first.

  • Do you offer support after the install?

    Yes. Remote help first, on-site visits when needed, and optional monthly support plans for businesses.

  • How far do you travel?
